Building the next-gen blockchain infrastructure: SPYCE.5
From concept to launch: an infrastructure-as-a-service vision built on IOTA, including product design, marketing site, and ecosystem partnership.
IOTA – The new innovation ecosystem
IOTA is a next-generation blockchain that is solving the scalability issues of traditional blockchains through an innovative approach called the DAG (direct acyclic graph). IOTA is fast, feeless, secure, and built to support use cases with high volumes of transactions. What this enables is a whole range of new use cases for blockchain and a new level of highly automated global cooperation.
As the IOTA technology has only recently reached its maturity and the ecosystem is still young we set to ideate new business concepts to serve the growing community. Through regular ideation sessions with selected partners, and after various ideas, concepts, and business models, we came up with a new infrastructure-as-a-service concept. We designed a clickable prototype and created a marketing site for the project.
After pitching the concept to the IOTA ecosystem accelerator program we received great feedback and were accepted into the program to further develop the idea.

SPYCE.5: Partnering up with the IOTA Foundation
IOTA Foundation is a German non-profit organization researching and developing the open source technology. They had recognized the same need for an infrastructure-as-a-service provider in the ecosystem and approached us for cooperation. As they were in the process of spinning out commercial entities from the non-profit organization, we decided to set up a joint venture with a team of IOTA Foundation directors. We formed a strategic partnership with the IOTA Foundation and SPYCE.5 was born.
After some further business development and additional work on the concept idea, we raised 1M in funding from the founder of IOTA David Sønstebø to build the product vision.
Building a launchpad for EVM chains
As one of the founding members and main contractors for SPYCE.5, we were involved in various strategic and operational tasks. I led the product design of the platform from a concept to a production-ready SaaS service.
I created hundreds of UI screens, and various prototypes and built a suite of products from proof-of-concept prototypes to MVP releases and live continuously developed services. I designed and built the marketing website, applied the brand across various touchpoints, and conducted marketing activities to drive growth.
We released the first-ever automated EVM chain launchpad, accompanied by a highly scalable web3 API service. We serviced several ecosystem startups and enterprise customers including powering a new EU-compliant KYC chain that was chosen for the European Blockchain Sandbox initiative.
The project has since evolved and rebranded itself to HAVN, a token ecosystem connecting EVM chains into a fully decentralized and interoperable network.
